Dear Jukebox Attendees,
It felt so good to have Jukebox back this weekend, and a huge thank you to everyone who came out! We loved having Melissa join us on stage and you should be sure to catch her solo performances with the VSO on the Made In Vermont Tour.
Many times at a Jukebox show, you will often hear only a single movement from a much larger work. For those of you who are interested in listening to the rest of the piece, we are forwarding a link to a Spotify playlist. This playlist will bring you to the original Jukebox setlist in addition to the entire quartets that each individual movement is drawn from.
For those who don’t have a Spotify account we’re also passing along links to recordings of some of the works on YouTube.
I’ve also shared another piece by Ian Clarke called The Great Train Race. It’s just as crazy as Zoom Tube, and here’s a shot of part of the music for it…you can see the flute multiphonics, a spot where the performer sings at the same time that they play a long downward scale, and a bunch of weird looking notes at the very top that tells the performer to make a breathy sound that imitates a locomotive.
And finally, be sure to check out this link to Jaime Laredo’s debut recording at the tender young age of 18. On his first release, Jaime performed the violin version of the Carmen Fantasy that closed out our evening at Jukebox. Before you hear him give the Northeast premiere of a new double concerto this weekend, you can listen to the first recording Jaime ever released!
