Sally Rivard

Sally Rivard currently devotes her professional time to teaching Tai Chi, Qigong, yoga, Zumba and other fitness classes in the Newport area when she is not on a travel adventure.

Sally grew up in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, and earned a BA in French, International Business and Secondary Education from Lake Erie College in Ohio before moving to the Northeast Kingdom to take her first job as French teacher at Lake Region Union High School in Orleans, VT. She continued to study French and completed her MA in French at Middlebury College. As a lifelong learner, she has sailed the world and studied on two Semester at Sea voyages.

In addition to serving on the VSO Board as chair of the Education Committee, Sally is also co-chair of the North Country Friends of the VSO.  She also co-chairs the Jay Community Recreational Centre Committee, overseeing the responsible and sustainable development and maintenance of 4-season, non-motorized trails in the town of Jay dedicated to the mission of “No Child Left Inside.”

Her ever-evolving list of passions includes: biking in all seasons, snow sports, hiking, traveling, cooking, quilting, reading, singing and playing piano and cello.  She lives in Jay with her husband Bill and is grateful that their son has chosen to live nearby… a simple hop, skip and jump over the mountain in Montgomery.
